🏔️ Background — Where Did Jesus Say This?
🗺️
Bible Background · 聖經背景
Jesus was teaching on a mountain (山上) in Galilee (加里肋亞). Many people came to listen. This teaching is called the Sermon on the Mount (山中聖訓). It is in the Gospel of Matthew (瑪竇福音), chapters 5 to 7. When Jesus talked about birds and flowers, he pointed at real ones right around him!
Matthew 5–7Sermon on the Mount
😈
BadDer
Wait — Jesus was on a real mountain? With real birds flying around? He was not in a classroom or a church?
👼
DerDer
Yes! He was outside. The sky was blue. Birds were flying. Flowers were growing (生長) on the ground. Jesus pointed at them and said: "Look! God takes care (照顧) of them. God will take care of you too!" It was a real nature (大自然) lesson! 🌸

📖 The Bible Passage — Read Together!
👼
DerDer
OK, let's read! Jesus talks about three things: birds (飛鳥), flowers (花朵), and tomorrow (明天). Read slowly. You can do it! 💪
"Look at the birds (飛鳥) of the air. They do not plant (播種). They do not harvest (收穫). They do not store food in a barn (倉庫). But your heavenly Father (天父) feeds (餵養) them. Are you not much more valuable (貴重的) than they are?
Can any of you, by worrying, add even one hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers (花朵) of the field grow (生長). They do not work. They do not make clothes. But I tell you, not even King Solomon (撒羅滿王) in all his glory was dressed like one of these flowers. If God dresses the grass (野草) of the field like this — grass that is here today and thrown into the fire (火) tomorrow — will he not much more clothe (裝扮) you? You of little faith (小信德的人)!
So do not worry, saying: 'What will we eat (吃)? What will we drink (喝)? What will we wear (穿)?' The people who do not know God look for all these things. But your heavenly Father (天父) knows that you need them all.
Instead, look first for the Kingdom (天國) of God and what he wants. Then all these other things will be given to you as well.
So do not worry about tomorrow (明天). Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
— Matthew 6:26–34 (思高聖經)
😈
BadDer
Hold on. "Birds of the air"? Why not "birds in the air"? That sounds wrong to me.
👼
DerDer
Good question! These two little words have different meanings. "In" tells us where something is right now. "Of" tells us what type something is — like it belongs there. So "birds in the air" means the birds are flying up there at this moment. But "birds of the air" means sky-birds — birds that belong to the open sky. It is a poetic (詩意的) Bible expression. Think of "fish of the sea" — we mean all sea-fish, not just the ones swimming right now! 🐟
😈
BadDer
Oh. So "of" = belongs to that place. "In" = is there right now. Actually that makes sense.
✏️
Grammar Note · 文法小教室
"Birds of the air" → of = type / belonging. All sky-birds as a group. Poetic and biblical. "Birds in the air" → in = location right now. Those birds up there at this moment.
More examples: fish of the sea · beasts of the field · salt of the earth — all use "of" to describe a type, not a place.
😈
BadDer
OK wait. Jesus said even the grass (野草) on the ground — God dresses it up beautifully. But grass gets thrown into a fire tomorrow! And God still cares about it? That is… actually kind of amazing.
👼
DerDer
Yes! And Jesus says: if God does that for grass, how much more will he do for you? Then he gives us one big secret: "Seek first (先尋求) the Kingdom (天國) of God." Do not put your worries first. Put God first — and everything else will follow. 🌟
😈
BadDer
"Worrying cannot add even one hour to your life." That is true. I worry before every test. But the test still comes! And I am just tired from worrying all night. Total waste of time.
👼
DerDer
Exactly. Jesus knew this 2,000 years ago. And doctors today say the same thing. Worrying does not solve (解決) problems. It only makes us tired and sick. So: do your best, seek (尋求) God first, and live in the present (活在當下)! 😄

🤔 Deeper Look — Does God Want Us to Be Lazy?
😈
BadDer
Hold on. Birds do not plant or harvest (收穫) — but God still feeds them? So I can just sleep all day and God will bring me a hamburger? Jesus wants us to be lazy (懶惰)!
👼
DerDer
Ha! No, BadDer! Have you ever really watched a bird? Birds work hard (努力工作) all day! They fly, they search, they dig. God gives them the ability (能力) to find food — but they still have to go find it! We are the same. We must work hard. But we should not worry too much (過度擔心) while we work. There is a big difference!
Trusting (信靠) God does not mean stop working.
It means: do your best today, and leave tomorrow in God's hands.

Bible Person · 聖經人物
Who is King Solomon (撒羅滿王)? He was the richest (最富有的) and most famous king in Israel. He had gold, beautiful clothes, and grand palaces. But Jesus said one simple field flower is more beautiful (更美麗) than all of Solomon's clothes. God's creation (天主的創造) is already wonderful. We do not need to worry about having more.
1 Kings 3–10
👼
DerDer
Even Pope Leo XIV (教宗良十四世) faces many hard problems in our world today. But he keeps praying (祈禱), working, and serving (服務) every day. He does not stop because life is hard. That is the message: Trust God, and keep going. 🕊️
😈
BadDer
OK fine. Even the Pope has problems and he does not just stay home and cry. So me worrying about one test all night long is… maybe a little too much.

🌱 Your Action — Try This Today!
👼
DerDer
Today's action (行動) is simple (簡單). It only takes five minutes. You do not need any money. Just go outside and use your eyes, your mouth, and your hands. Ready? 🌿
01
👀 Look (看一看)
Go outside. Find a small bird or a plant (植物) — even a little weed (雜草) by the road is fine! Look at it for a few seconds. It is alive. It is growing. God takes care of it.
02
🗣️ Say It Out Loud (大聲說)
Say this sentence out loud: "God takes care of them. God will take care of me." Say it one time. Say it slowly. That is your prayer (祈禱) for today.
03
✍️ Write It Down (寫下來)
Open your phone. Write one thing you are worried (擔心) about right now. Then write next to it: "I give this to God today." You do not need to fix it right now. Just give it to God.
😈
BadDer
These three steps… I can actually do them. OK, I am going outside to find a bird. Although near my house there might only be a telephone pole (電線桿).
👼
DerDer
There is probably a sparrow (麻雀) sitting on that pole right now! 😄 Great job today, everyone! You read the Bible in English and learned 5 new words. You are amazing! 🎉
👼 One Last Word from DerDer —
Life has many hard things — tests (考試), money, health, relationships. Jesus did not say your problems are small. He said: "You are more valuable (貴重) than birds and flowers. Your heavenly Father (天父) knows you."
Trusting (信靠) God is not giving up. It is doing your best today, and then leaving tomorrow in God's hands.
Let's say it one more time: "God takes care of me." — Take a deep breath (深呼吸). And keep going. 🌿
